Kristine Heykants
Kristine Heykants mines our cultural landscape for visual artifacts to manipulate into images. By combining pop culture elements, high-impact color and a dramatic use of lighting, she makes portraits for the music industry, advertising and editorial clients. Taking influence from the worlds of cinema, painting and Pop Art, her work seeks to raise questions and provoke thought through the creation of dramatic situations and personas. Kristine's personal photo projects have been the subject of publication and gallery exhibition and she is the recipient of numerous grants and awards. Her work has led her to travel extensively abroad, in France, Germany, Italy, England, the Philippines, Indonesia, Korea and Australia.
Kristine recently participated in the show Pay Attention GM 08 at the Soap Factory in Minneapolis Minnesota. Pay Attention GM 08 is a group show comprised of 22 Minneapolis artists of various mediums.
